The biggest reason why this card doesn't see play is that most Hunter minions have Deathrattle, so you want them to die, thus making the Immune effect a downside. Otherwise this is a nice Tempo-tool to take/regain boardcontrol.
I sort of disagree here. Sort of. Don't see this as an attack against you, please. Those are just my thoughts on this card. :)
You're right in saying that Deathrattle minions want to be seen dead. However, running your own Deathrattle minions into your opponent ones is more detrimental than anything else, since you can't do anything with the tokens until your next turn, by which any smart opponent will have cleared your tokens off. Personally, I never suicide them, unless i have Tundra Rhino on the board to get an immediate effect.
That's where Bestial Wrath comes into play. This card has saved me so many games simply because I was able to clear off a big taunt or worse from the board without losing my own minions. That's the big strength of this card. To make trades and maintain board control the aggressive way. Since Midrange Hunter usually has nothing else to offer, taking the bull by the horns is the only option. Trade your minions into your opponent and your board is empty or your minions are too easy to finish off. Don't trade your minions and go straight to the face and your opponent can pull up their game without being disturbed.
This card wreaks havoc on the opponent's board and saves your own. And I play it at the earliest occasion where I can see that it can save me some trouble. If you wait too long, your board might just be gone the next round. If you're AoE'd, that would happen, too, but with Bestial Wrath you could at least clear the opponent too beforehand.
I like this card now. With Un'Goro bringing in so many beasts, this becomes a better Abusive Sergeant where you can keep the original beast instead of a 1/1. Even if the beast you keep is an Alleycat or something, it's still strictly better due to beast synergy. It can also combine well with the various poisonous beasts like Giant Wasp.
Is this card really that bad? It's really good for maintaining board control, which hunters desperately need to keep. I have two of them in my current hunter deck, and I'm almost never sorry to see them in my hand, unless I've just been completely cleaned off the board. Even then, used with charge minions, you can get back on the board with it.
The synergy with GIANT SANDWORM is the DREAM!
I just got a Giant Sandworm out of a Jeweled Macaw while Bestial Wrath was in my hand!!! But... it was against priest, so Giant Sandworm didn't even get to attack. :'(
If Hunter had any form of card draw, this card would actually be awesome. The tempo you gain at the loss of card advantage just isn't worth it.
This card is really good in mid range hunter. It helps you trade so efficiently. It helps to maximize your mama usage when playing off curve.
This is great when you drop animal companion and get the 4/2 with charge. 6/2 immune melts enemy taunts. Make that web spinner they left alone get extra value. Take out an emporer cobra with no ill effect. Make call the hounds a tad more efficient.
hmm what do you guys think if they would buff it to:
"Until the Start of your Next Turn?"
any toughts?
I don't think that's a good idea. Turn 8, you play Gahz'rilla into this. Then you owl any enemy taunts and unload direct damage onto Gahz'Rilla the turn after for a hard-to-stop lethal.
Got a golden one. Free 400 dust.
good to protect that cat of kelthuzad
pensaer is not downvoted lol
Good with king krush?
Never seen that in any deck :D
By immune do they mean he cannot be hit
It doesn't take damage from spells and effects.
In addition to this, if it is cast on an opposing beast with taunt, you are no longer forced to attack that minion. Similar to the way stealth works on minions with taunt.
Really? Is that even possible? The text says you can only cast it on a friendly beast and the effect is gone after your turn is over.
The word '"friendly" was added in December. so when he posted it was still a thing, but apparently unintended by blizzard. it basically ruined houndmaster's effect.
