I didn't hit Legend yet. My best rank was rank 4 with 5 stars last season. I think I could have made it to Legend but I didn't want to spend all my time grinding for it. It's just such a big time investment when you have to start at rank 19 or 18 each season. Additionally, I lose my interest to continue playing when losing a few times in a row or when I'm just really unlucky.
I have hit legend only 3 times. The first was the very first season (before the card back was introduced). The second was after the cardback was introduced after grinding hard all weekend to get from 5->Legend. The third was when aggro shaman was at it's peak and I just found myself at rank 2 so I pressed on. Since I have the card back and am not good enough to get there without hardcore grinding I just get rank 5 each month and forego the extra common golden card.
I've started playing a month before old gods release, and get to legend first time, whit insane grinding, the 30th of the last month of that year (kraken year, 1 month before un'goro). Then I took a brake to even try it (but always get to rank 5), until I get there again the second month of frozen throne, this time around the 23rd of the month. Then next month again (always different decks), and finally in december I've played not a lot of game, but I ended up rank 3. This month I'm already rank 3 and ranking up.
All this to say, at the beginning it may be very difficoult and grindy, but as you get better and better, at the end you will start to get legend just playing the game, whitout minding to much for the rank. For me, to start get to that point, took out about 6 months after the first legend. It takes quite a few games to get there anyway, but if you already have that card back, you will be less stressed out about it, and maybe you will play a few more games and in a better way...
I got there 3-4 times standard, and once wild. The thing with legend is you don't even have to be good, it just requires grinding. When you've done it once it also becomes way easier to do it a second time.
I'd love to at some point, but I realistically don't see how I'm ever going to get there. With a full-time job and IRL life the time investment is just too high, even without me being a good-but-not-great player.
If I feel ambitious and have a few extra hours I try for rank 10, else 15 is really as far as I need to go.
Ive hit legend twice. The first time was 4 months after I started playing, which was the release of MSoG. I did it with pirates. Then two seasons later I did it with dragon priest. I havent played past rank 15 the past 10 months.
I reached legend for the first time with bugetish demon handlock at the start of gvg.
As for the times i reached legend,i have stop countining since last year. I am a very good player and not just smart.I am genius and stable one at that.I also know words.
P.S My bytton is bigger and it works ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I really like how the cuban crisis is downgraded to a dick measuring in the 21st century, much more comfy, with a great amount of memes, i wouldnt mind getting nuked this way, but only if the orange makes a tweet about it beforehand, so i can make memes for the Fallout era.
After more than 2 years of playing hearthstone I reached legend in wild. This was the first time ever. I took advantage of people not knowing how to play against the new cards so I didn't actually took me a lot of time. Rank 18 to 5 u played anyfin can happen with the new call to arms. From there to legend I played cubelock.
If you can consistently make it to rank 5 every season, you can also hit legend. It just takes more time.
I always want to hit rank 5 at least to get that golden epic at the end of the season, which isn't that hard to do because you still get the star bonus from win streaks up to rank 5. I've only hit legend twice because I honestly don't care about it (and don't have the time), but those two times I did have enough time and enjoyed the meta.
